Shear Maintenance

The simplest and easiest thing to maintain your shears is to keep them clean and well oiled.  Hair and debris can build up beneath the cutting edge near the pivot point and prematurely dull your blades.  It will also negatively affect your alignment and tension.

Often times a stylist will hand me their shears and they have not been oiled since the last time they were sharpened.  It is best to oil shears at least one time per day.  If practical, more than once.

I suggest wiping down the shear after every cut.  It only takes seconds and the simple process will keep your shears sharper longer and they will be much easier to use.
